Hello again and welcome to Jason and Jordan's page. I hope you enjoy it. The following story is an essay that I wrote for a writing class at the college that I attend. If you have twins you will understand where I am coming from. If you have ever wanted twins you will stop and question yourself. The following story is true experiences that I had as my boys went from their baby years to their school age years.

Double the Trouble and Double the Joy

When I walked out of the room, I was in shock. The doctor's words were still ringing in my ears and I could still hear my mother's shouts of joy in the background. TWINS-I just couldnot believe it! Did I hear correctly? Yes, that is what the doctor said. Was I really ready to face twins at the age of eighteen? What was my husband going to say? We had been wanting one, but TWO, that thought was overwhelming. What would twins mean to our future, I was soon to find out.

According to the Webster's Collegiate Dictionary twins are born with one another or as a pair in one birth; make up of two similar, related, or connected members or parts; double. This is their version, but I have my own. I ask myself a simple question: What are twins? My twins are double trouble, but they are also double joy. They are double the work, but double the fun. As a mother of twins I seldom have a peacful moment.

My twins are decorators. I woke up one morning to dots all over my bedroom wall. I could not imaging what it was. At first I thought I was hallucinating, so I closed my eyes. When I opened them again the dots were still there. I looked closely at the dots. I soon figured out that they were whole pieces of bologna that my three-year old twins had thrown upon the wall. This is one of the many things that my twins tried.

My twins are magnets. They draw a lot of attention no matter where I take them. My twins are climbers. I found them standing on the counter many times, even when they were barely able to walk. My twins are ball players. When they were about two years old I overheard them saying, "ball" and then I heard a crashing sound. When I went to investigate, I found them playing ball with a dozen of eggs. I am sure you can imagine the fun I had cleaning that mess up.

My twins were also arsonist. I speak of this in the past tense because they were quickly reformed. I was sitting on the front steps enjoying a moment of peace when they came rushing around the side of the house. "Mom, it's not too windy, is it?", was the question they asked me. I was trying to figure out what they meant when I smelled the smoke. I then understood the question. My husband had made a large pile of pine straw and my four year old twins were wondering if it was too windy to burn it. It did not matter if it was too windy or not for they had already set it afire.

The thing about twins is that what one doesn't think of the other one will. Twins brought about many changes to our lives. We learned that twins are more than just what the dictionary says. They are anything they want to be. They are the most precious gift that I have ever received.

To me this is the true meaning of "TWINS"!
